Plex Media Server:Unable to see folder to add as media folder

Suppose you have installed plex media server on ubuntu or your operating system

of choice but linux. But when you go to add your media folder say from your

external hard disk you are not able to see that folder or it previous folder to

browse and select.

When we install plex media server it will create a user named plex.that user do

not have access to older we are willing to add as our media library.

What we can do is add plex user to group we are logged in that obiviously has

premission to those folder.

How to do it ?

First check which group you and plex belong to:

groups

groups plex

Now, add plex user to your user group, and allow this group

to access /media/$USER:

MYGROUP="$USER"

sudo usermod -a -G $MYGROUP plex

sudo chown $USER:$MYGROUP /media/$USER

sudo chmod 750 /media/$USER

sudo setfacl -m g:$MYGROUP:rwx /media/$USER

sudo service plexmediaserver restart

Restart plex media server.

sudo service plexmediaserver restart

Now recheck.
